Petrovice u Sušice - church of st. Peter and Paul
Early Gothic Church of St. Peter and Paul in Petrovice dates from the beginning of the 13th century. The church stands on the site of a former castle and was created by modifying the castle chapel. The church is rated as a valuable early Gothic building with an older Romanesque tower from probably 1240. The nave was expanded in the 14th century and another reconstruction took place in the 18th century, when the tower was also romantically modified.
The church stands on the site of a former fortification, which is still visible somewhere today. The place was apparently one of the first support points for the colonization of Královské Hvozd around 1000 AD.
