Hrádek - Odolenov - Chapel of Our Lady of Help

Chapel of Our Lady of Help at the children's camp in Odolenov. From contemporary sources we learn that in 1748, Jan Ferdinand had Count Desfours build a chapel in honor of Our Lady of Help, about a hundred steps from the grave of Vodolenka. This grave was still marked with a wooden lattice in those years and was venerated. The grave was destroyed during the construction of the chapel. The chapel was consecrated on June 18, 1750 by P. Vácslav Weissenregner, dean of Sušice and honorary ruler of Old Boleslav.

Near the chapel there is a spring of healing water, about which Father Chanowsky writes as follows: A quarter of a mile from the town of Sušice towards the setting sun is a high mountain and a forest called Svatobor, there is a very rich spring of water, to which for various reasons people go to here they washed their eyes and bathed, and all in sacred reverence, and they also led a holy procession here. The origin of this source is as follows, as we are informed. One memorable maiden was sick to the point of death, so she sought out her friends so that after her death her body would be loaded onto a cart and two white oxen would be harnessed, who even with the cart would reach the place without a guide, and she would be buried there and where to this day as a sign of her a spring gushed out of the grave. This spring is called Wodolenka.
