Kolinec

The original settlement of Kolinec, sandwiched between the hills of Rovina (722 m) and Vidhošť (795 m), was founded by gold miners, because the local river Ostružná, like the nearby Otava, was gold-bearing. The long history of the current town is evidenced by its landmark, the Church of St. James, whose original masonry dates back to 1180. The town was the property of the Czech queens since its foundation, which is also evidenced by the one-tailed lioness with golden armor in the coat of arms.
Kolinec can also boast of several famous natives, such as Dr. Matyáš Borbonius, physician of Petr Vok and high Czech nobility or Master Šimon Skála, dean of the art faculty of the Czech university.
